Crack 300

Our staff of experienced metallurgists, materials scientists and engineers, corrosion engineers, tribologists, surface scientists, structural and mechanical engineers have extensive industry experience in research and development, and provide an in-depth understanding of materials behavior in industrial applications.

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive package of consultancy and project support services with the capability of performing industry focused research and development contracts. We have more than 20 years of industrial experience and research in materials degradation, high temperature and severely corrosive environments.

Quest Integrity has over 35 years of advanced materials research performed both for industrial and government clients. We regularly engage in international research programs and collaborate with universities and research institutes worldwide.

Quest Integrity performs specialized consulting and research into ferrous and non-ferrous metals, nonmetallic materials, coatings and surface treatments.

Service Highlights

Explore the features of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

  • Materials selection
  • Materials conformance and compatibility
  • Life and condition assessments
  • Creep, creep fatigue and high temperature metallurgy
  • Materials testing and evaluation
  • High temperature corrosion
  • Atmospheric, aqueous and localized (pitting, crevice) corrosion
  • Materials degradation mechanisms
  • Root cause failure analysis
  • Quality control and quality assurance
  • Repair and refurbishment techniques
Materials Consulting

Quest Integrity operates comprehensive and sophisticated materials testing laboratories that perform conventional destructive testing, characterization and materials selection such as tensile, compressive, fatigue & fracture, creep and scanning microscopy.

We also have a number of unique testing capabilities as well including an innovative suite of high temperature corrosion testing setups. We can replicate many destructive effects and conditions and operating environments for test specimens. Additionally, our capabilities include many types of dynamic or static testing.

Materials Consulting
  • Identification of MIC using chemical, microbiological and optical methods
  • MIC prevention strategies (e.g. biocide selection and dosing regimens including compatibility with corrosion inhibitors)
  • Alloy selection for resistance to MIC
  • Biofouling control
  • Cleaning technologies and metal biological cleaning product interactions
  • Research and development (e.g. new prevention methodologies for MIC)
Corrosion Consulting Services

In many situations, it is not possible or practical to inspect the entire surface area of given assets, such as a pipeline or a heat exchanger. Where the mode of damage is pitting corrosion, Quest Integrity provides a range of services to obtain required information for confident life prediction. Using extreme value statistical methods, our experts calculate the expected depth of the deepest pit based on inspection results from only a small fraction of the surface area.

The extent of inspection required depends on the severity and quantity of the pitting damage. In cases where there is excessive or little to no pitting, inspecting 10% of the total area is often sufficient.  In cases that are indistinct, we use sequential decision theory to implement inspection test plans based on the degree of risk associated with each case.
